SAFE OPERATING PROCEDURE | K-9 KUBE

PURPOSE: To safely and efficiently use K-9 KUBE to load dogs into a vehicle.

 

WARNINGS SAFETY/LOSS CONSIDERATION
1. Ensure personal protective equipment is worn. Personal injury may result
2. Do not operate Loading Machine without induction & Training Personal injury may result
3. Ensure familiarity with machine (read owners manual) Personal injury, property damage may result
4. Carefully check condition of machine prior to use Personal injury, property damage may result
5. Ensure exact job specified by supervisor Property damage, Environment damage may result
6. Do not wear loose clothing Personal injury may result
7. Ensure long hair is tied back or in hair net Personal injury may result

1. Boots. To be worn at all times.
2. Gloves. To be worn at all times.
3. Suitable Clothing To be worn at all times.

LOADING PROCEDURE

  1. Operator to be familiar with all controls, set-up and operating modes required for task & ensure operation of Loading/Unloading is understood.
  2. Operators to ensure all body parts are clear of machine during operation.
  3. Check to ensure hydraulic hoses and fittings, lights etc. are in good order prior to start.
  4. Ensure immediate work area is clear of personal and obstructions.
  5. Ensure the operator cannot be injured by passing vehicles.
  6. Operate machine in accordance with owner’s handbook recommendations.
  7. Authorised persons only to carry out visual inspections, maintenance and service in accordance with owner’s manual.
  8. Switch on flashing hazard lights.

  9. To lower box place thumb of one hand on red safety button (this will enable the hydraulic pump and motion alarm to start), use your other hand to work the up/down switch.
  10. When box is lowered move to the rear of machine, open compartment door.
  11. Load animal, close door insuring the locking pin is engaged.
  12. To load box repeat step 9.
  13. When box is in the docked position it is safe to transport, NEVER MOVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE BOX OUT OF THE DOCKED POSTION.
  14. Clean machine with hand brush and high pressure water, PPE to be worn, eg safety goggles. All waste material to be cleaned away after each job.
  15. Check machine for loose parts or visible damage and Notify supervisor of problems.

THIS EQUIPMENT IS CAPABLE OF CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY.
READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.

The K-9 KUBE has been designed and manufactured in its base configuration as a hydraulic lifting device, to lift small animals in a containment box onto a transport vehicle.

  • Do not allow people to stand directly behind vehicle when using the K-9 KUBE
  • Ensure the flashing lights are working when machine is in use.
  • Be alert for hidden obstructions.
  • Warning decals are to be kept in a readable condition, replace unreadable decals immediately.
  • Maintain the K-9 KUBE in accordance with maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure bystanders are more than 4 meters from K-9 KUBE when in use.
  • NEVER MOVE VEHICLE WITH K-9 KUBE BOX OUT OF THE DOCKED POSITION.

MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

The K-9 Kube must be maintained in accordance with the following maintenance schedule.

Do visual inspection daily.

Maintenance and any necessary repairs must be carried out by a suitable competent person.

Flashing lights Before use/every 8 hours
Hydraulic oil levels 100 hours/3 months
Motion alarm Before use/every 8 hours
Hold down bolts 100 hours/3 months
Internal light Before use/every 8 hours
